Chicago Splash August cover featuring Samantha Roby, founder of Chicago Food Authority was major pinch me moment. I was so touched and honored when Sam reached out to me to style her for this exciting cover shoot. I absolutely adore Sam, and am so inspired by her work. If you’re not already, make sure you follow her @ChicagoFoodAuthority for major foodie inspiration!
While looking for outfit options for Sam, I was focusing on bold colors and sattled prints. I typically avoid black when styling photoshoots like this. For the cover photo I wanted the focus to be on Sam’s beautiful, contagious smile. To do this, I kept the look streamlined with minimal accessories. The mustard jacket was the perfect pop of color and highlighted her features.
Sam needed two looks for the shoot. I wanted to make sure the looks complimented one another, and I love the way red and yellow look together. For her second look The Kooples dress was the perfect print size and flowy fit for Sam. To add a surprise element to the look we paired it with white booties, one of my favorite pieces to incorporate into my styling.
In regards to jewelry for the photoshoot, I couldn’t think of a better fit then Rachel Lynn and Imperfect Grace. They’re my go to jewelry designers. Not only are their pieces stunning but I love any opportunity to support local talent, especially since the shoot was for Chicago Splash! We used this Rachel Lynn bracelet for the second look.

There were quite a few other options we had for Sam and while they didn’t make it for the photoshoot she added them to her personal wardrobe.
I couldn’t help but do a little shopping for myself while prepping for this shoot, so many great pieces found! These gold booties and the gingham sandals Sam wore were a must for my personal collection. I also fell in love with TopShop’s current collection. This camo print jacket was so fun I had to have it, plus I found the perfect red dress for summer for under $100. Of course, the polka dot dress was another piece I fell in love with and wore to a pool party already!
