While Celebrating Rosh Hashanah this week and starting the fall season, it’s the ideal time to clean my closet. My goal is to curate an effortless, minimalist wardrobe with some of my old favorites and new additions while staying true to my signature style.
There are lots of exciting choices out there! Here are some of my favorite transition pieces that inspired me…
1. RED
While styling a new, super exciting campaign for Jessica Zweig, I was inspired to add more color to my life. And since red is the hottest color of the season, I decided to welcome red to my closet. I love this ruffled blouse especially because of the neckline — imagine layering it with a beautiful leather blazer. And the best part is the price!
2. COAT
For a fashionista who lives in a winter city, investing in a statement coat is very smart. Simply because we are wearing coats at least 1/3 of the year, so we may as well have some fun with it. This red coat by H&M reminds me of my coat from Blake Boutique Chicago, by Fausto Puglisi. It’s a fabulous coat that I bought years ago on sale! I still wear it and always get countless compliments. I also love this one and this one.
3. SOMETHING VELVET
Velvet is a trend that has been around for a little while now and I don’t think it’s leaving anytime soon. It’s perfect for winter because of how warm it can keep you and because of its amazing texture. You can wear it in so many ways, too! Like this dress or this velvet blazer — both are musts. Or, make a statement with some amazing velvet OTK boots!
4. HATS
Colder temperatures also allow you to play with — and grow — your hat collection. You don’t have to stick with just the regular winter hat, either. There are lots of stylish options. For example, the beret is trending right now, and I love this one from Asos. And don’t forget about the baker boy style like this one.
5. OTK BOOTS
I couldn’t help it, before NYFW I got these (Zara over the knee) boots. But if red is a bit much for you, invest in black or gray for sure. My favorite brand is SW, because of quality. I’ve owned a pair for 7 years and they still look new! Love this pair and this pair.
Investing in a fabulous vest is always a great idea!! Consider stepping out of your comfort zone and investing in a fun vest dress such as this Hidas one that I wore at NYFW. I love the versatility of this piece, and the story behind Hidas’ 2018 spring collection makes it even more special (to read more about this, click here).
