The New Year is the perfect time to try something new with your style, like suits! Suits have been a favorite wardrobe staple of mine when I want to make a bold statement. Plus, they’re perfect to wear in place of skirts or dresses in the brutal cold Chicago days. I’ve been on the hunt for a bold suit for those days I want to feel like a girl boss 😉 I came across this DVF suit and instantly fell in love. I mean seriously, how gorgeous is this blazer and trouser combination?
Even though I was instantly obsessed with the DVF suit, I try not to spend a lot of money on clothes so I hesitated a bit. However, when my girl Clark & Stone hosted an event with DVF I finally decided to pull the trigger and let me tell you it was an investment I’m happy I made. Even though this particular suit is a larger investment, the great part about suiting is you can wear the pieces separately to create endless outfits!
Girl Boss Style
Suits aren’t just great for weather purposes, I’ve noticed that when I’m out with kids I prefer to wear pants over skirts. Boss mom’s know what I’m talking about here. When you’re carrying your kids and on the go, pants tend to be much more functional. Just look at the pictures, this power suit gave me super mom powers! But with function comes a major statement! Seriously, there’s something about a suit that gives a total girl boss vibe I can’t get enough of.
Bold Statement
To get the bold statement with a suit, it’s all about choosing unique details. I chose to go with a bold pattern with the DVF suit, but there are plenty of other ways to make the same statement. You can try a suit in a gorgeous color like this pink one, or this red option. A solid color suit is far from boring when it’s in colors as gorgeous as those! But even if you’re more of a neutral color fan you can make a statement in a black suit. I can’t get enough of the feather detail on this black suiting, or the lace and pearls here. If you want to make an even bolder statement, but stick with black the dramatic sleeves and pants with this suit are a total showstopper. The point is, you can have a lot of fun with suits. Say goodbye to the old boring suits in the past, it’s all about the girl boss suit this season.
Personally, I love to mix it up and pair high end pieces with more affordable options. With this look, I paired the DVF suit with heels from Akira (they’re only around $40!). The combination gives for a totally unique look to combine different price points and brands.
Don’t you just love the kid’s looks, as well?! Katya and Leonix are wearing Lola and The Boys, one of my favorite store for kid’s clothes. I can’t get enough of these star joggers on Leonix, and Katya’s favorite coat! They’re offering 15% off when you use code tali15 at checkout.
