Every fashionista needs an updated fall jacket! Living in Chicago, I’ve learned to love using fall jackets and coats to make a statement! Because you don’t need to trade style for warmth, you can easily have both. If you need to invest in a new fall jacket to get you through the best season for fashion, you’re in the right place! The great news is, all of these are super versatile so you can style them for the rest of the cold seasons and even layer them with each other!

After discovering the new Coach fall collection, I fell in love with colorful coats like with the one I am wearing here. The double sided wool with a pop of gorgeous pink/purple is to die for, isn’t it?! Typically, I stick to neutral colors like black and white in my wardrobe but there is something so modern about a coat in color. It makes a statement whether you choose a bright or pastel color. This year I’m really obsessed with pink!
2. TRENCH COAT
The best fall jacket style is hand downs, the trench coat! Trench coats are exploding this year. Everything from leather to denim to classic, trench coats are taking over. It’s a great option if you want something classic and versatile! Not only is it trendy, but it also looks great with business attire if you need something with a professional aesthetic.
3. OVERCOAT
Nothing is more classic than an overcoat when it comes to fall jackets. It’s so versatile for layering because it’s lightweight and cozy! My favorite way to style a fall jacket right now is this boyfriend-style coat layered over a hoodie. Something about this look is just so cool, city chic, with street style edge and sophistication. It’s everything in one perfect look! My advice is style this with slim pants and heeled booties so everything is balanced.
4. SHEARLING FALL JACKET
Personally, I have always loved fur coats and jackets. More often than not you see fur jackets that are shorter in length, which I love for that cropped effect! So flattering. Shearling is the best direction to go in, because they are much warmer than fur and gives the same effect. Plus they are really easy to care for, you will save money on dry cleaning expense, and they last forever!! You can invest in this jacket and pass it down for generations.
5. LEATHER JACKET
In 10 years of styling, I can confidently say that my go-to item for any client is always a leather jacket. They can be a little intimidating at first, but here’s why every stylish girl needs a leather jacket. They fit into any wardrobe! It’s not scary, it’s the ultimate add-on to every outfit to give it that extra wow factor. It’s just the trendiest update on a classic denim jacket. I don’t usually buy the same item twice in different colors, but I think I have to, this fall jacket is just so good!
