Winter time in Chicago is in full effect right now. As much as I love this city, traveling to a warm destination is a great break from the cold weather. Because we just finished our dream home renovation, we will be spending all the time we can at home this season. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been dreaming of a tropical vacation… fabulous bathing suits and cocktails on the beach in Mexico, anyone? Now that I have Mexico and resort wear on the brain, I thought it was the perfect time to share some of my favorite style tips with you to use for your next vacation.
FIGURE FLATTERING SWIMWEAR
Chic swimwear is a definite must for great resort wear! I know, swimwear can be a stressful topic. The good news is you can wear figure flattering swimwear! Yes, it’s possible! I simply can’t get enough of unique one piece swimsuits. After having kids I feel much more comfortable in one pieces to hide the tummy area. Mommas you know what I mean! Fortunately, one piece suits are a great way to flatter any body shape while enjoying your beach vacation. I’ve found one piece suits with interesting details and silhouettes to be the most flattering and a great way to still have fun with swimwear, without a bikini.
Not into one pieces? Go for that high-waisted bikinis do the same trick! Not only are they super flattering on the tummy area with the extra coverage, anything high-waisted is so trendy right now.
WEAR LIGHT LAYERS
When it comes to resort wear I try to keep things as easy as possible. One of my favorite ways to create a look that’s chic but still easy is with light layers. Lightweight cover ups are a must for resort wear. Personally, I love to wear cover ups that have shape and detail to them so they double as an outfit. Wearing a statement piece over a swimsuit is the perfect resort look! You can also add ‘lightness’ to your resort wear looks with white!
COMPLETE YOUR LOOK
Even if you’re wearing a simple look like a great swimsuit and easy cover up, completing your outfit will tie everything together for the perfect resort look. My favorite completer piece ? Hats! Hats are an absolute must have for your beach vacation style. Not only are they great to keep your skin well protected from the sun but they’re also a super easy way to complete your look in a chic way. I have recently discovered an Israeli hats designer Danielle Mazin and I am serially obsessed! Canopolie straw beaded hat is on top of my wish list for summer and it make the most stylish V-day gift! Of course, a great pair of sunnies and earrings are also easy pieces to complete your resort looks.To add a fun twist with sunnies I can’t get enough of the small cateye shapes that are on trend this season.
