The weather in Chicago can be unpredictable, and tends to change quite often. Even though it’s currently winter, we’ve had a few days of warmer temperatures and it got me thinking about my favorite transitional outfits. I know dressing for those days when it’s between two seasons can be tricky. We want to be warm in case the temperature drops throughout the day, but also enjoy some of the warmer elements. Lately, my go to outfit for those types of days and times of the year (i.e. fall to winter, winter to spring) includes sweater dresses!
Layering a Sweater Dress
Sweater dresses are a must have for me because they’re so easy to wear, and you can style them different to accommodate weather changes. When it’s colder out I tend to wear sweater dresses with leggings or tights, but during these times when we experience transitional weather I skip the leggings and layer OVER the sweater dress to change things up a bit. If you’re like me, after having legs covered all winter it’s nice to have bare legs every now and then 🙂 Layering over your sweater dress with a jacket will still give you the warmth you need without covering your legs.
Cut Out Boots
It’s no secret I LOVE boots – what woman doesn’t?! They’re an absolute must have for every woman’s wardrobe. Over the knee boots are always fun, but this year I can’t get enough of cut out boots. The shorter length is great for bare legs when pairing with a sweater dress. Not to mention, the cut out detailing is such a fun addition to boots. I hesitated to purchase these cut out boots but I’m SO glad I decided to add them to my personal collection, I can’t stop wearing them! They’re absolutely perfect for transitional outfits because when the weather gets warmer we don’t necessarily want or need a tall boot but still need a little something.
